Rules 2.0
General Rules:
Player Conduct:
- Players harassing or driving away other community members and/or staff may be warned or banned. We do not condone harassment here.
- No promoting other Discords or Rust servers.
- Stirring up drama can lead to a permanent ban with no warning. This is a Rust server and not a social media platform. If you want drama, look for an outlet elsewhere. You should never be doing something intentionally to hurt the community and the server.
- Making a quit posting/announcement in-game, in Discord, or in other formats/posting will result in a ban. Creating drama or demonstrating attention seeking behaviors to negatively impact our community is not acceptable
- Admins and mods will aid in investigating player reports and concerns – make sure when reaching out to ask an admin or mod for help to include what you are asking help with, spamming “ADMIN” or “MOD” is not appropriate, don’t spam.
- Spamming voice, in-game chats, private messages, or Discord text or voice channels with staff pings or toxicity may result in kick, jailing, or ban.
- Friends are allowed to fight each other (with mutual consent), but it must be done in a private area away from roaming players.
- Report evidence and concerns of community members and/or staff to server owners at: rust.empires.online@gmail.com
Building Restrictions:
- All signs must be appropriate both in public and in private. Use of inappropriate signs may lead to a ban.
- Turrets: Turrets can only be placed inside a sealed base (no exceptions aka peacekeeper/unloaded). If a turret is shooting outside of the base (via window, door, etc.), the turret will be removed and owner can face admin action. Turrets can also be placed inside a sealed and locked compound but the owner needs to verify the turrets can’t shoot out. Temporary turrets are not allowed at airdrops or heli crashes.
- SAM sites: SAM sites are only allowed in red zones. They must not be able to reach players that are outside of these zones.
- Tool cupboard and all loot must be accessible via door, window, or hatch (no hiding in walls, etc). Players should never use the remove tool to hide items or use during war (In NML only the tool cupboard/loot does not need to be accessible by door and can be hidden).
- Remove tool is only for fixing mistakes during the building process. It should never be used to reclaim a lost base/home/shop/etc. It should also never be used during raids/war/pvp, to grief others, get access to rooms you can’t normally access, or hide loot.
- Walls can be built around a players base only, not around whole claims or monuments. No walls allowed in frontiers to avoid clutter.
- For people living in Cities/Frontiers/RP Claims, they can only build heli towers in No Man’s Land or Unclaimed land.
KOS / PVP Areas:
- For the items below, KOS (kill on sight) is the same as PVP or RDM. This means any hostile attack towards another player, even something as small as hitting with a rock is considered KOS.
- Non-PVP areas: supermarkets, warehouses, lighthouses, and gas stations are not PVP zones unless marked as KOS zone on map.
- PVP areas: PVP can occur at airdrops, marked monuments, No Man’s Land, any clan land claims marked as KOS/PVP, during wars, inside the dome of the downed heli, and within same KOS circle around the cargo ship/oil rig.
- Airdrops: Players are only allowed to KOS/PVP within the dome surrounding the airdrop. Once the dome is gone, KOS must end immediately. No chasing outside of the dome, no shooting out from the dome or into the dome from outside.
- If you are standing near a PVP border and get shot, you will take the fault. If you don’t wish to participate in PVP, make sure to avoid any PVP zones and linger near the border at your own risk.
- Do not attack from outside of the PVP areas.
- KOS at the cargo ship/oil rig is only allowed within the red circle that appears on the G map. This does not include land, players can’t shoot from or at land.
- For the domes around downed helicopter: Players are only allowed to KOS/PVP within the dome surrounding the crash site. Once the dome is gone, KOS must end immediately. No chasing outside of the dome, no shooting out from the dome or into the dome from outside.
- **If the dome or part of the dome falls into a city or Frontier zone, do NOT KOS/PVP in the city or Frontier zones – these are safe areas**
KOS / PVP Rules:
- Players are allowed to defend their own, a friend’s, or a clan-mate’s base/compound if someone is inside of the base/compound.
- Players can defend the body or sleeper of a friend. This only counts if you catch someone IN THE ACT of looting. You cannot attack if it is after the looting has happened or if you suspect the person without evidence. (If you do the looting, don’t brag about it)
- During raids outside of war/NML, attackers are not allowed to KOS defenders until fired on. Defenders can decide to engage or not.
- Warning shots in non-PVP areas are not allowed. People don’t know if you are a bad shot or intentionally missing. For victim, no shooting back unless hit.
- Sleepers may be killed if they are within looting range (no shooting sleepers from outside houses).
- If a player leaves the red zone, they are no longer allowed to return fire. The person in the red zone can continue to shoot until they lose visual of the player or 30 seconds from last direct hit. Once they leave the red zone, they can’t chase and fight. People who leave the red zone cannot return to that particular PVP zone (or attached ones) for 5 minutes. This does not apply to players who get killed in a red zone.
- To avoid zergs, the maximum amount of people that are allowed to roam together at all PVP spots is seven. This limit also pertains to purge night.
Role Playing (RP):
- Harassment, racism, and explicit sexual content are not accepted in RP.
- Don’t make offensive “RP” with hate groups
- RP isn’t required, but encouraged. Please respect other groups’ RP.
- You cannot push your RP on other players that do not wish to participate
Make a Clan:
- Minimum of 2 players, maximum of 7 players.
- All clan members must wear the clan tag in-game via /clan plugin.
- You can not make a second clan and attempt to bypass our clan limit, Only tagged clan members are allowed to have access to clan base and loot.
Frontier/City/RP Evictions:
- City owners are allowed to make the decision to evict players. The city owner will still need a valid reason and can receive punishment if found to be evicting for personal gain. Cities are considered safe zones so they need a good reason for eviction. They must still post in evictions discord channel.
- If you think a player living in a Frontier/City/RP Claim is taking advantage of the safety that those zones provide, being hostile/toxic, or the owner of their land is protecting them; post your accusation in the #frontier-evictions channel.
- Make sure to tag the person in question so they have a chance to explain their side.
- All players can then vote on if that person should be evicted. If the vote is in favor of evicting the person in a 2 to 1 ratio, the person’s base will be moved to an unclaimed land.
Raiding Rules:
- What is not considered raiding: Entering a base via breaking twig/exposed holes/windows and stealing from unlocked boxes or bodies.
- Raiding is only allowed in red zones, unclaimed land (check discord prior to raiding since map only updates once a day), during war, or during evictions.
- Damaging structures and breaking boxes is considered raiding.
- You can destroy existing twig structures anytime (you cannot attack structures while they are being built, that is considered griefing.)
- You can raid structures in standard unclaimed lands, this excludes Roleplay claims. Residents on claims removed due to war have 24 hours to relocate.
- It is illegal to raid a base that has been labeled pending/invalid in the #land-claims channel. All players are given 24 hours to fix their land claiming mistake before the land can be raided.
- You can raid bases that are built on your claimed property (except for cities/towns). If you claimed land that had previous inhabitants, you must give them 24 hours to relocate. Post in #evictions channel in Discord for the 24 hour notice.
- Raids in unclaimed land or on claimed land (following the instructions above) are still NOT KOS zones. Wandering players are not allowed to engage raiders.
- Home owners may defend themselves. Raiders may attack anyone attempting to enter the base (close quarters, not sniping people from far away that MIGHT be coming to raid the base.)
- A raid is over when the raiding party runs out of explosives or hasn’t used any explosives within 10 minutes.
- If you wish to raid a base on a border, consult an admin or risk being charged for illegal raiding.
Map Zones:
Frontier Zones:
- Frontier zones are green on the map.
- Frontier zones are designed for new players where they can build without fear of being raided.
- While clans can own shops in Frontier Zones, but they cannot store any loot in Frontiers.
- Once a player joins a land owning clan, they must remove their items from this zone. Admins will routinely check this zone and remove houses of people who have joined clans.
- Do not use a supply signal in the Frontier zone.
- Do not build high walls in the Frontier zone.
- Do not fight or tag a heli in any Frontier zone. Luring the heli into a Frontier zone is considered griefing.
No Man’s Land:
- No Man’s Land is marked as red on the map.
- Players can PVP anyone and raid any bases inside of No Man’s Land.
- Trap bases are only allowed in No Man’s Land (no where else)
Unclaimed Land
- Unclaimed lands don’t have a color.
- All of the claims on the map are unclaimed until a clan claims them.
- Raiding is allowed in unclaimed land but check discord first to see if land hasn’t already been claimed. The map is only updated once a day so legal claims may not show up on /map.
Official Cities:
- Members of clans can own shops/buildings inside of the city, but those cannot be used for storing clan or individual loot. The admins can destroy the loot if it isn’t removed.
- Members of the city are allowed to defend the city with force from robbery attempts.
- Do not use a supply signal in any city claims.
- Do not fight or tag a heli in any city claim. Luring the heli into a city claim is considered griefing.
- Players do not need to ask for permission to live/build in a city, cities are meant to provide safety to players. Anyone using this rule to grief/harass the city will have their base removed.
- Towns are allowed to banish players from coming on to their land.
- Post in the #banishment channel to declare this and tag the player being banished.
- If a banished person won’t leave, call for an admin in-game text and in Discord. If an admin isn’t available, players are allowed to kill the banished player.
- The banished player is never allowed to open fire on the townsfolk since they shouldn’t be there. If this player keeps coming back, call an admin so they can be jailed/banned.
- If players want more control over their city, they can opt to make a private city. Private cities are still given war protection as official cities, but they aren’t eligible for trains.
Land Claiming:
- Standard Land Claims: available for clans of 2 – 7 players (tagged in-game prior to making a land claim).
- Roleplay/Solo Land Claim: available for solo players or clans of 2-7 players (tagged in-game prior to making a land claim). Roleplay/Solo Land Claim players cannot war or be warred (but can be evicted – see above).
- City Claim: available for clans of 4 – 7 players (tagged in-game prior to making a land claim). A clan can make 2 land claims over the 3 week period and identify it as a City claim. Cities cannot declare war or have allies but can be warred on.
